Cookie Walk

8 am - noon

Our annual cookie sale bennifits the quilting ministry of the congregation. Each year we make more than 500 quilts for the Des Moines School System to use at nap time for the all day preschool students. At the end of the year, each student takes thier quilt home. For more than 25 years this ministry has shown God's love in a steady and quite way.

The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd students will tell the story of Christmas for us durring our regular Sunday worship. Practices are during Sunday School in November and the Sundays in December leading up to the program.

Christmas Eve Worship
December 24, 2025
4 pm and 7 pm

Our Christmas Eve service features all the traditional Christmas carols, candles as we sing Silent Night, and communion for all who believe Christ is present in this place with us. When you arrive, luminaries will light the way to worship. Join us as we welcome the Christ Child into our lives this Christmas!

75 Year of Goodness an Mercy

Founded in 1950, Good Shepherd celebrates 75 years of ministry in 2025. Our Theme based on Psalm 23 verse 6 reminds us of all the ways God has been faithful to the congregation and the Southside of Des Moines. This year there will be many opportunities to tell stories and remember the ministry of the past 75 years, culminating with a festival worship service, meal, and homecoming celebration on November 9, 2025.
